Bob Rodgers recently gave a talk at the monthly meeting of the Princeton Local Section of the ACS. Entitled "Introduction to Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS)," the 50 minute talk introduced the subject without using equations! You can view a pdf of his slides here.
Silver-silver sulfate reference electrode

The silver-silver sulfate reference electrode is a green alternative (no mercury) that also contains no chloride. The potential of this electrode for several filling solutions has been added to our table. Be sure to read about how these potentials were calculated.

The Orazem-Tribollet EIS book is finally available and I have my copy. It looks like a good "learnable book" for the beginner and makes a good complement to the Macdonald book.
